ABOUT CHRISTINE LEEDS

Hi! I am pleased to introduce myself to you. It has truly been my joy and the passion of my life to seek integration of my spiritual studies and practices with my work as a psychotherapist. For many years, I studied meditation and Eastern philosophy with a meditation master in spiritual communities in India and the United States. I went on to co-lead two meditation centers and teach many courses on meditation and spirituality. Along the way, I have been fortunate to work clinically with many people at various stages of life in many different settings: with the elderly on death and dying; in play therapy with young children; and with people suffering severe mental illness in a psychiatric hospital setting. Many years of experience as a member of a community mental health trauma team and as a therapist in community mental health clinics in Massachusetts and New York City honed my skills in serving the needs of both individuals, and families and groups. I have been in private practice as a therapist for over 30 years, first in New York City and for over twenty years here in Atlanta. I truly enjoy the process of working with individuals and couples who are committed to healing and growing. I have also worked with many emerging young adults, assisting them in healing and creating a firm foundation for a healthy and happy, mature adult life.

Beyond Psychotherapy

Moving from living in spiritual communities and into my marriage of over 30 years has been my greatest teacher. I became a stepmother and learned to “walk the talk”. I’m committed to seeing the core of love in each person and situation – no matter what shows up. I discovered how to look deep within myself – to see what was being triggered in me that I needed to recognize, feel and release. This allowed me to move out of reaction and judgments and into acceptance. I have learned to see the events of my life as the perfect opportunities that I need to open more to Love. I apply the wisdom and understanding gained through my journey and years of experience in assisting clients in overcoming their own traumas and challenges, so they too can heal and thrive.
